Twinkle Town (A Sparkling Mini-Nativity) - By Tom Kirkham and Matthew Crossey
A short, funny script, great characters and four brilliant songs brings Bethlehem to life as you’ve never seen it before, perfect for 5-9 year olds.
Welcome to Bethlehem: busy, bustling, and - at least for grumpy Silas - full of unwanted visitors arriving for the Census. As day turns to night and still people flood in to ‘his’ town, Silas wonders if he will ever get any peace and quiet. And when the nearby innkeeper starts filling up his stable too - including a young couple, some shepherds and some exotic-looking men on camels - Silas is dumbfounded and decides to see what all the fuss is about.
In this rib-tickling mini-nativity from Tom Kirkham and Matthew Crossey, four great songs and a short entertaining script bring Bethlehem to life through the eyes of grumbling local resident, Silas, who is a reluctant (but eventually transformed) witness to the events of the birth of Jesus. We hope it provides the cast (and teachers!) with an enjoyable and meaningful experience.
The play has been written with 38 speaking parts, though this could easily be adapted (see page 6 in book). There is also plenty to do for a large ensemble. All characters could be played both by boys and girls. The ideal cast size is 33, although this play is also suitable for a flexible cast size of between 30 to 50+.
The Director's Book includes the full script with song lyrics, character list, staging suggestions plus other useful production information, along with the sheet music piano score with vocal line and guitar chords. The accompanying CD includes all songs recorded with children’s voices and full backing tracks.
An editable version of the script in Word format is available to customers who also purchase a performance licence. The cost of the editable script is currently £6.95 and this can only be bought (along with the performance licence) direct from the publisher’s website or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
