Island That Rocks!, The - By Steve Titford
From Steve Titford, writer of Shakespeare Rocks!, comes his team’s latest, fantastic show. With its irresistibly fun, summer vibe and hope-filled vision of the future, The Island That Rocks! is guaranteed to put a smile on every teacher, pupil and parent's face!
Two estranged teens become shipwrecked on a secret island and begin a fun new existence with its trailblazing surfing inhabitants. Their season of shared adventures will change their lives - and their respective worlds. Bursting with wit and contemporary style, The Island That Rocks encourages young people to get active, have fun and explore a sustainable future, with songs that will have everyone singing and dancing!
Contains 25 speaking roles (can be easily reduced to 18 speaking roles if necessary) with flexible cast size to suit your group numbers (from 13 actors upwards) and with unlimited chorus parts. Relatable with the characters sharing many challenges with the pupils as they grow. Packed with great role-models and encouraging messages to inspire. Easy to stage with costumes and props straightforward to make or source (see PDF "Sample Script" below for more details).
The script is snappy, succinct, witty and evenly loaded across your main characters. The presenters can actually use their scripts as a prop and prompt. The cast can be easily adapted to accommodate any ratio of boys/girls - most characters even have unisex names to assist with the process. Separate CDs of vocal and backing tracks (with essential sound effects) and Full Performance piano score also available. Links to the New National Curriculum ... Environment and Sustainable Citizenship. Suitable for Key Stage 2, ages 7 to 11.
A BRAND NEW product called Sing it! is now also available to accompany The Island That Rocks! This CD-ROM teaches the songs to the children without any teacher input. Children can use it at school or at home (think of the time it will save you!). Children LOVE learning this way and the product is foolproof. Just give it to the children and they’ll do the rest.

Also now available is a CD-ROM of Backdrops, which contains instant scenery with digital backdrops supplied in both a PowerPoint presentation and as individual JPG files. No more scenery painting! These images may be projected onto a screen or wall at the back of your stage or hand them to a local printer to print onto large boards or sheets in order to create your stage backdrops. They're also useful to print off for cast and stage crew to familiarise themselves with the sets and scene changes. The CD-ROM of Backdrops contains a different backdrop for every scene change.
