In the spring, an industrious Little Red Hen finds some grains of wheat and asks her friends, the Cat, Rat and Pig to help her grow them. But they refuse so she does it herself. By autumn the grains have grown into golden wheat. Again she single-handedly harvests and threshes it before taking the grain to the windmill to be ground into flour. When at last she bakes a delicious loaf of bread from the flour, her hungry 'friends' are disappointed that they are not asked to share it with her! The moral of the story is that it's much more fun to share the work as well as the food!

‘3rd and 4th class performed this musical for (our) parents at the end of the school year and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all - children and parents. The children enjoyed all the hard bits as well!! - learning the script and rehearsing same. All of us had a fantastic and enjoyable time both learning and performing this musical.’ ‐ Howth Road School, UK (5/5)
‘Great musical, kids loved doing it and parents highly enjoyed the end result :) Really recommend it ... I did it with kids ranging from 8 years to 10 years!’ ‐ Celine, UK (5/5)
‘I chose this for a group of 40 year 2 children to perform last year and it was a great success. There is a good mixture of up-beat and gentle songs. The children even managed the three part harmony in one song. We had a solo from the lame child and put in a couple of dances. The children had great fun and loved the songs and the amusing script. It was easy to direct and the backing tracks were great. I only hope I can find a musical to match it for this year!’ ‐ Luby, UK (5/5)
